Race Friends
Same leaderboard. Just the people you actually want to beat.
Global leaderboards are fun for about ten seconds, then you're scrolling past a few hundred names you don't recognise, looking for the one person you actually want to beat. Race Friends, part of Compete in ROXFIT Ultra, cuts straight to that. Pick a friend's own recorded effort and race it directly, no scrolling, no strangers, just you against someone whose fitness you actually care about.
How Race Friends works
Pick a friend's completed time on any workout and it loads as your ghost. As you move through the session, you're ahead or behind them, with the live gap updating second by second, the same delta mechanic as Race Your Past Self, just with someone else's effort in the target seat instead of your own.
Why a named rival beats a global board
A worldwide leaderboard tells you where you rank against people you'll never train with and whose splits mean nothing to you. Racing a friend does the opposite: every second you gain or lose is against someone whose fitness you actually understand, so the result means something the moment you see it. It also turns a solo session into a head-to-head without either of you needing to be in the same gym, or even training on the same day.
Where to find it
From the mode picker before a workout, choose Race Someone. You'll see a picker sorted friends-first, so the people you actually train with or compete against show up before anyone else. Filter by age or gender if you're narrowing down who to chase.
Who gets the most out of it
Training partners are the obvious fit, but it works just as well for anyone in your gym running the same programming, or a HYROX rival you've never actually raced in person. The mechanic doesn't care about distance or timezone, it only cares that both of you did the same workout at some point.
Getting the most out of it
Works best with training partners or anyone in your gym doing the same programming as you. It turns a shared benchmark into something with actual stakes, without either of you needing to be in the room, or even training on the same day. Pick a friend who's close to your level rather than always chasing your fastest training partner, a race you can realistically win keeps you coming back to it.
Common questions
Does my friend need to be online at the same time? No. You're racing their recorded effort, not them live, so it works regardless of when they actually did it.
Can I race more than one friend on the same workout? You pick one effort per race, but nothing stops you racing a different friend's attempt the next time you repeat the workout.
What if my friend hasn't done the workout I want to race? Then there's nothing to load yet, Race Someone needs a real recorded effort from them first, the same way Race Yourself needs one of your own.
